Dentures & Bridges
Dentures are removable dental appliances that replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues, providing functional and aesthetic benefits for individuals with multiple missing teeth.
Bridges, on the other hand, are fixed dental restorations that replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth to the adjacent natural teeth or dental implants, restoring both the appearance and functionality of the smile.
Dentures
Dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and the surrounding tissues in the mouth. They are custom-made to fit the individual’s mouth and provide a natural-looking smile. Dentures can improve chewing and speaking abilities, as well as restore facial aesthetics by supporting the lips and cheeks.
There are two main types of dentures: complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Both types are typically made from acrylic or a combination of acrylic and metal, providing durability and functionality.
Getting dentures involves a process that includes dental impressions, measurements, and multiple appointments to ensure proper fit and appearance. The dentist or prosthodontist will work closely with the patient to create dentures that are comfortable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing, allowing individuals to regain their confidence and enjoy a healthy smile.
Dental Bridges
Bridges close gaps in your smile by replacing a missing tooth with an artificial one. The prosthetic tooth is bonded to your natural teeth on either side, creating a stable anchor. Bridges are often made from metal, although we will cover any visible surfaces in porcelain to ensure a natural, subtle appearance.
Bridges can also replace more than one missing tooth as an alternative to removable, partial dentures, although this depends on the strength of the teeth on either side of the gap.
Bridge treatment is a two-step process; at your first appointment, we will prepare your surrounding teeth and take impressions to create your prosthetic tooth. The lab will return this in around two weeks, at which point we will see you again to attach your bridge. If you clean your bridge thoroughly and avoid certain foods, it can last for up to 15 years.
